Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has recorded a 74.7 percent year-on-year increase in green electricity transactions as of Monday, according to the regional electricity trading center.
The total volume of green electricity traded this year has reached 5.26 billion kWh, surpassing the 5-billion-kWh milestone eight months ahead of the 2024 projection.
Green electricity, which produces little to no carbon dioxide emissions during generation, is essential for helping industries achieve carbon neutrality and promoting industrial transformation.
With abundant wind and solar resources, Xinjiang’s renewable energy capacity has exceeded 100 million kW, supporting China’s commitment to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
