Xi urges beefed-up disaster relief after Super Typhoon Yagi strikes south China emphasizing the importance of safeguarding people’s life.
Chinese President Xi Jinping called for intensified disaster relief efforts following the impact of Super Typhoon Yagi on southern China.
The 11th typhoon of the year, Yagi, made landfall in Hainan and Guangdong provinces on Friday, resulting in three deaths and 95 injuries.
Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of safeguarding people’s lives and property.
He urged swift mobilization of rescue teams, proper relocation and resettlement of affected individuals, prevention of secondary disasters, and minimizing casualties.
Additionally, Xi called for the rapid repair of damaged infrastructure, including transportation, electricity, and communication systems, while promoting active post-disaster reconstruction to restore normal life and work as quickly as possible.
