Xi stresses for adapting Marxism to China’s needs and aligning the theory according to the principles of China.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for increased efforts to tailor Marxism to the Chinese context and meet contemporary needs.
Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made these comments in an instruction regarding the study and development of Marxist theory in the current era.
The instruction was delivered at a conference on the project held in Beijing on Friday. The conference focused on the project, which was launched two decades ago.
Since its launch, the project has significantly contributed to promoting the Party’s innovative theories and reinforcing the guiding role of Marxism in ideological discourse.
Xi emphasized the need for more research and effective communication of Marxist theory to help the public gain a deeper understanding of the Party’s new ideas.
He also stressed the importance of aligning Marxism’s fundamental principles with China’s specific conditions and its rich traditional culture.
Xi pointed out the necessity of advancing the development of an independent knowledge system for Chinese philosophy and social sciences, as well as fostering high-quality theoretical talent.
Cai Qi, a member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee, participated in the conference.
Cai called for greater focus on studying the core principles of Marxism, addressing China’s unique challenges, and exploring the depth of traditional Chinese culture to fuel theoretical innovation in modern times.
