Xi Jinping celebrates China’s progress amid challenges during the Year of Dragon.
Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted the country’s progress in advancing Chinese modernization despite facing “complex and challenging” situations over the past year during a high-level reception to mark the Chinese New Year. Xi reflected on the Year of the Dragon, emphasizing China’s resilience and ability to overcome obstacles.
Xi explained that despite difficulties, China responded calmly and implemented a series of comprehensive measures to overcome challenges and move forward with determination. He spoke at the reception hosted by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29.
During the event, which was attended by over 2,000 people, Xi extended his Spring Festival greetings to Chinese people across all ethnic groups, as well as to compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas.
Xi noted that over the past year, China successfully implemented existing policies and introduced new measures to support economic recovery. These policies played a key role in promoting growth and stability.
China achieved significant strides in technological and industrial innovation, with new productive forces advancing steadily. The country also maintained stable employment levels and consumer prices.
From a global perspective, Xi emphasized that China continued to be a driving force behind global economic growth and took strong action in dealing with natural disasters, as well as securing impressive results at the Paris Olympics.
Xi described the past year as “extraordinary” and highlighted the positive impact China made in contributing to world peace, stability, and human progress.
Xi emphasized that despite challenges, the Chinese people have proven that nothing can deter their pursuit of a better life. He reinforced that China’s path toward building a stronger and rejuvenated nation remains unwavering.
Lastly, Xi concluded by stating that China will continue to make progress in reform and development by maintaining confidence, confronting challenges head-on, and addressing risks without hesitation.
