Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York ahead of assuming the role of President of the UN Security Council for July.
During the meeting, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar presented an overview of the planned Programme of Work that the Security Council is expected to follow during Pakistan’s presidency next month.
He emphasized the need for collective efforts to tackle today’s complex global challenges and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Secretary-General’s initiatives aimed at strengthening multilateralism and promoting preventive diplomacy.
