President Xi Jinping emphasized the vast potential in China-Kyrgyzstan cooperation and called for increased trade, investment, and collaboration in emerging industries.
He made these comments during a meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on the sidelines of the second China-Central Asia Summit in Astana.
Xi noted that bilateral ties, established 33 years ago, have significantly progressed and are currently at their strongest. He recalled his February meeting with Japarov in Beijing, where key agreements were reached, giving fresh momentum to cooperation.
Xi reiterated China’s readiness to deepen the alignment of development strategies with Kyrgyzstan, continue mutual support on core interests, and protect long-term shared interests.
He encouraged both nations to expand trade and financial cooperation, improve connectivity, particularly through advancing the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, and support high-quality infrastructure development.
Xi also advocated fostering new growth areas in clean energy, green minerals, and AI. He suggested enhancing cultural, tourism, educational, and healthcare exchanges and launching more people-focused projects.
As both nations benefit from economic globalization, Xi called for opposing unilateralism and working together to uphold fair global trade practices and a more balanced global governance structure.
Highlighting the upcoming rotating presidency of the SCO for both countries, Xi said China is ready to support Kyrgyzstan to promote stronger SCO development and host successful summits.
