Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, called for enhanced contributions from the nation’s non-CPC members to strengthen confidence, gather support, and foster unity as he extended festive greetings ahead of this year’s Spring Festival, which falls on January 29.
He addressed leaders of the eight non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, individuals without party affiliation, and other united front members during a gathering in Beijing on Monday.
Xi emphasized that 2025 requires proactive and effective macro policies, a continued commitment to high-quality development, technological self-reliance, and sustained socioeconomic progress. As president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, he also stressed the need to meet the objectives outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and lay a strong foundation for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).
During the gathering, Cai Dafeng, chairman of the China Association for Promoting Democracy’s Central Committee, spoke on behalf of the non-CPC members.
Xi reflected on the nation’s achievements in the past year, including 5% GDP growth, key advances in science and technology, and steps taken to improve public well-being.
The non-CPC political parties and individuals without party affiliation have actively contributed valuable insights and strengthened democratic oversight, assisting the CPC in scientific decision-making and effective policy execution.
The All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce has supported the implementation of policies benefiting the private sector and worked diligently to promote the healthy development of the private economy.
Xi outlined his expectations for non-CPC members, urging them to conduct thorough research and provide political consultation on deepening reforms, driving high-quality development, and crafting the 15th Five-Year Plan.
He further emphasized that the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce should guide the private sector in sustaining entrepreneurial spirit, enhancing confidence, and encouraging the development of modern corporate systems with Chinese characteristics.
Xi also underscored the importance of non-CPC members enhancing their capacity to perform their roles, staying true to their original purposes, and carrying forward China’s fine traditions.
