Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday congratulated Lee Jae-myung on being elected as the President of South Korea.
Xi highlighted that China and South Korea are not only close neighbors but also vital cooperative partners. He noted that over the 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both nations have set aside differences in ideology and governance systems, advancing together and achieving shared growth, which has led to stable and healthy bilateral ties.
He emphasized that this cooperation has improved the lives of both peoples and contributed positively to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
President Xi expressed his strong commitment to deepening China-South Korea relations.
He remarked that the world is undergoing rapid, unprecedented changes, with growing instability in international and regional dynamics.
Given the global and regional importance of both nations, Xi stated that China is ready to collaborate with South Korea to uphold the founding principles of their diplomatic relations, maintain friendly ties, and pursue mutual benefit. This, he said, will help advance their strategic cooperative partnership and deliver greater benefits to their people.
