President Xi calls for joint efforts to build China, Malaysia strategic community as he met with Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with Malaysia in building a high-level strategic partnership and jointly crafting a “Golden 50 Years” of enhanced bilateral relations.

President Xi made these remarks during a state visit to Malaysia, where he met Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar following a grand welcome ceremony hosted in his honor.

Xi emphasized the close and longstanding ties between China and Malaysia, describing them as trustworthy neighbors and partners, and noted that their relationship has matured over the past fifty years with even greater potential ahead.

He said he is committed to working alongside Sultan Ibrahim to ensure the sustained and steady growth of China-Malaysia relations, aiming to deepen their friendship and cooperation.

Xi called for enhanced political trust and reciprocal support on core issues, underscoring the need to align development strategies for shared progress and modernization.

He urged both nations to accelerate key projects like the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” initiative and the East Coast Rail Link, while expanding cooperation in emerging sectors such as AI, the digital economy, and green technologies.

Xi welcomed increased imports of quality Malaysian agricultural products into China and encouraged Chinese companies to expand investments in Malaysia.

He also proposed deepening cultural ties by promoting Confucian-Islamic dialogue and boosting exchanges in tourism, education, and cultural cooperation to strengthen people-to-people bonds.

Xi voiced China’s support for Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship and reiterated a commitment to working with Malaysia in implementing key global initiatives related to development, security, and civilization.

He further called for united efforts with Malaysia to amplify the collective advancement of the Global South, contributing to regional and global stability and progress.

Sultan Ibrahim welcomed President Xi’s visit as a milestone in bilateral ties and recalled his own memorable trip to China, highlighting China’s development success under Xi’s leadership.

He stated that Malaysia highly values its relationship with China and is committed to advancing mutual cooperation and the development of a strategic community with a shared future, regardless of global changes.

Reaffirming Malaysia’s support for regional economic integration and the Belt and Road Initiative, Sultan Ibrahim expressed interest in deeper trade and investment ties, improved connectivity, and stronger educational and cultural exchanges.

He also commended China’s recent regional diplomacy efforts and acknowledged its constructive role in addressing global and regional challenges.

As ASEAN chair and China’s dialogue coordinator, Malaysia is dedicated to strengthening ASEAN-China relations and jointly creating a stable and prosperous regional future.

Following their meeting, President Xi attended a banquet hosted by Sultan Ibrahim in his honor.
