WAPDA has approved over Rs94 million to support 75 schools in the Diamer Basha Dam area, ensuring their operation for the next three years and promoting girls’ education in the region.
The funding will benefit around 2,250 girls in Chilas, Tangir, and Darel under a community-based learning programme. The schools, which were at risk of closure due to financial issues, will now continue functioning with support from WAPDA and partner organizations.
In addition, funds have also been allocated to rehabilitate several government schools, improving facilities and providing transport for students. The initiative aims to strengthen education access in remote areas alongside ongoing development projects.
