Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to embark on a three-day visit to the United States starting on Thursday. During this visit, he will engage in discussions with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, which is part of the Biden administration’s strategy to keep communication channels open with Beijing.
The State Department, in a press release on Monday, confirmed that Blinken will host his Chinese counterpart in Washington from October 26-28. The agenda for their talks will encompass a wide range of topics, spanning bilateral, regional, and global issues. This diplomatic effort is aimed at maintaining responsible management of the U.S.-China relationship and ensuring that avenues of communication remain accessible.
In recent times, relations between Washington and Beijing have become increasingly tense, with an ongoing trade dispute that began in early 2018, involving escalating import tariffs on each other’s goods.
