Wang Yi discusses Thailand’s role under neighborhood diplomacy and expresses willingness to cooperate closely during his meeting with Thai counterpart.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized on Monday that China consistently places strong importance on its relationship with Thailand within the context of its neighborhood diplomacy strategy.
These remarks came during his meeting with Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa.
Wang, who also serves on the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed China’s willingness to collaborate closely with Thailand to expand practical cooperation in diverse areas and contribute to regional peace and stability.
He also welcomed Thailand’s involvement as a partner country in the BRICS framework and expressed support for its active participation in BRICS-related initiatives.
In response, Maris stated that Thailand views Chinese modernization as a source of significant opportunities and aspires to join BRICS, enhance collaboration within the Global South, and protect the shared interests of developing nations.
The two ministers agreed to expedite the development of the China-Thailand railway, enhance joint efforts in giant panda conservation, intensify actions against telecom fraud and other transnational crimes, and push forward the advancement of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area Version 3.0.
