On January 10, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Pakistani Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch convened the fourth round of diplomatic consultations at the vice-foreign ministerial level in Beijing.
Both sides reaffirmed their status as ironclad friends and all-weather strategic partners, emphasizing the enduring strength of their time-tested friendship. Guided strategically by President Xi Jinping and Pakistan’s leadership, the relationship has flourished at a high level, effectively safeguarding and advancing their shared interests amid global transformations of unprecedented scale.
The discussions highlighted the importance of implementing the key agreements reached by the leaders of both nations. They agreed to enhance exchanges across all levels, expand cooperation in multiple domains, and align development with security initiatives. Efforts will focus on ensuring the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in Pakistan, advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and further strengthening the strategic partnership. Both sides are committed to accelerating the creation of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
Additionally, the two sides conducted an in-depth exchange on international and regional matters of mutual interest and concern.
On the same day, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch jointly presided over the Fifth Meeting of the CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination in Beijing.
