Tesla’s Shanghai Megafactory ships first megapack batteries on Friday.
Tesla’s newly established Megafactory in Shanghai, located in eastern China, successfully exported its first batch of Megapack energy-storage batteries on Friday, the company announced.
The factory achieved this milestone just over a month after commencing production, with the exported batteries now en route from Shanghai Port to Australia.
According to Tesla, this development marks the company’s continued expansion in the global energy storage sector and signifies the transition of its battery technology beyond electric vehicles to large-scale energy storage solutions.
The Megapacks manufactured at the Shanghai facility will cater to both domestic demand and the broader Asia-Pacific market.
Megapack is an advanced electrochemical energy storage system that utilizes lithium batteries, which remain the leading technology in the modern energy storage industry.
