SKARDU, Aug. 16 – A significant milestone was achieved on Monday (August 14) as Skardu International Airport in Pakistan welcomed its inaugural international flight. This momentous occasion has been hailed as a remarkable “gift” to the region of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). With direct international flights now available, Skardu’s captivating allure is set to attract global travelers, notably Chinese tourists, eliminating the necessity for domestic connecting flights.
“This development marks a promising era for tourism in the area, as international visitors can now conveniently experience the breathtaking landscapes and unique cultural richness that GB has to offer,” Karrar Haidri, Secretary of Alpine Club of Pakistan told Gwadar Pro. “A surge in global tourism is anticipated within this region, drawing visitors from across the globe, with a notable influx expected from China,” he said.
China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism has reportedly unveiled its plans for outbound group tours for its citizens, encompassing around 80 countries including Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Skardu, a stunning valley in Baltistan, sits at 7316 feet above sea level and is renowned for its tranquil natural landscapes, pure freshwater springs, delectable fruits, and delightful climate.
