Senator Shibli highlights CPEC as Pakistan’s development lifeline describing it as a model of bilateral relations.
Senator Syed Shibli Faraz, the Leader of Opposition, referred to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a lifeline for Pakistan’s development and future growth during his address at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The session was organized by the Pakistan-China Institute.
He commended China’s Reform and Opening-Up policy, which has enabled China to become the world’s second-largest economy, and emphasized the relevance of these principles for Pakistan’s economic and social progress.
Highlighting the enduring and deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and China, Senator Faraz described it as a model of bilateral relations based on mutual respect and shared goals. He reaffirmed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) commitment to this critical relationship, underscoring its significance not only for bilateral cooperation but also as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
Acknowledging China’s significant role in global affairs, particularly within the Global South, he expressed support for China’s vision of a multipolar world. He also highlighted the transformative potential of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in reshaping global trade routes and enhancing economic cooperation.
Senator Faraz reiterated PTI’s commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-China relations and exploring new areas of cooperation with Chinese counterparts. He also extended his best wishes to the Pakistan-China Institute for its ongoing efforts in fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between the two countries.
