Members of the Shenzhou-19 crew aboard China’s space station finished the second round of extravehicular activities (EVAs) at 1:12 a.m. Beijing Time on Tuesday, as reported by the China Manned Space Agency.
Astronauts Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze spent 8.5 hours completing various tasks, including installing space debris protection devices and performing an extravehicular inspection. They were supported by the station’s robotic arm and a team on Earth.
Cai and Song, who were assigned to perform the spacewalk, have safely returned to the Wentian lab module.
Since their first spacewalk on December 17, 2024, the crew has completed various tasks such as equipment inspections, system-wide pressure emergency drills, and preparations for the second EVA series.
With nearly half of their mission completed, they are scheduled to conduct numerous scientific experiments and technological tests in orbit. Additionally, they will celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival (Chinese Lunar New Year) during their mission.
