Shanghai Disney Resort celebrates Spring Festival with traditional activities.
Shanghai Disney Resort is celebrating the Spring Festival and welcoming the Year of the Snake with a range of traditional Chinese festivities. The celebrations kicked off with the traditional lion eye-dotting ceremony, held on Wednesday morning, where Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse appeared in special Year of the Snake outfits. The pair performed a dance to “Dance of the Golden Snake” during the ceremony, with Joe Schott, the president and general manager of the resort, participating in the ritual alongside them.
The Spring Festival celebrations at the resort will continue until February 14, featuring themed decorations, shows, merchandise, and festive culinary experiences. As the only Disney park with the world’s first Zootopia-themed land, Shanghai Disney Resort is also celebrating the release of Zootopia 2 with appearances by Gary the snake, a character from the film.
A special, limited-time nighttime show called Spring Festival Celebration: Our Families will run from the eve of the Spring Festival until the Lantern Festival on February 12. The show will include holiday-themed projections, such as images of Gary the snake and the Chinese character for snake.
