 Senator Mushahid terms Pakistan’s relationship with China as non-transactional & non-tactical

Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman Senate Foreign Affairs Committee & Pakistan-China Institute, during his speech in a webinar titled ‘Political Change in Pakistan: What’s next for China Pakistan relations and CPEC’ hosted by Center for China and Globalization, termed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as one of the most important diplomatic initiatives of 21st century.

He said that the Pakistan-China friendship, since the establishment of their diplomatic relations has been unparalleled, non-tactical, and non-transactional since it is based on mutual trust, understanding, and respect & this is evident from a recent Pew survey according to which, 83% of Pakistanis had a positive opinion regarding China.

Moreover, he said that there are three issues in Pakistan on which there is a national consensus i.e. Kashmir, the nuclear program, and the CPEC. Lastly, he rejected the Cold War mentality and advocated for upholding the principles of multilateralism.
