At least 95% work of the phase-1 of Rashakai Special Economic Zone (SEZ), a flagship project under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been completed, according to the SEZ officials.
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) are developing Rashakai SEZ, which is spread over an area of approximately 1,000 acres.
Phase-1 includes camp fence, observation towers, grid station, sewerage pipeline, main gate, reception center, HBL Bank, and complete pavement of the main road.
In a video message released earlier this month, He Peng, project Manager CRBC at Rashakai SEZ, said “We are doing the construction of Phase-1; up to now nearly 95% construction of Phase-1 has been completed,” adding that utilities like gas and power have been already completed and connected to Phase-1.
For the gas work, internal pipes of the gas coming from Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) have already been completed; this also includes Sui Gas- Smart Metering Station at the SEZ. The utilities have also been connected to different offices in the zone.
For electricity, up to now, the grid station and the internal 11 KV distribution network has nearly been completed and will be energized soon.
“We welcome investors to come to Rashakai SEZ, to make investment,” Peng stated.
Rashakai SEZ was commercially launched on May 28, 2021 and currently, enterprises under construction at the zone include m/s Century (Pvt.) Limited; m/s Al-Chemist Chemical (Pvt.) Limited; m/s G&S Medicure (Pvt.) Limited; m/s Imtiaz Wires & Cable (Pvt.) Limited; m/s Pakistan Oxygen (Pvt.) Limited; m/s Geo Crete Absolute (SMC-Pvt.) Limited.
Rashakai SEZ holds the potential of $ 4 billion investments. Upon its completion, it is expected to provide 200,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities to the locals.
