China is prepared to maintain dialogue at all levels with Britain to strengthen and sustain their bilateral relations, President Xi Jinping said during a phone conversation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
During the discussion, Xi emphasized that as permanent members of the UN Security Council and major global economies, China and Britain should solidify their partnership, enhance cooperation, and promote mutually beneficial relations that will benefit both nations and the world.
Xi expressed China’s willingness to engage in equal and respectful dialogue with Britain, aiming to build mutual understanding and trust, with a focus on mutually beneficial outcomes. He also highlighted the potential for collaboration in areas such as finance, the green economy, and artificial intelligence, alongside deepening cultural and social exchanges.
Starmer affirmed that it is in the long-term interest of both nations to develop a closer cooperative relationship, particularly in sectors like the economy, trade, education, and clean energy, to foster development and address global challenges like climate change.
He also expressed Britain’s desire to enhance contact and dialogue with China across all levels and fields, emphasizing the importance of practical cooperation and institutional exchanges to build stable and strategic relations based on mutual respect.
Starmer reiterated Britain’s commitment to the one-China policy and expressed readiness to maintain communication with China on key global and regional issues, contributing to global peace and stability.
Xi acknowledged the importance of Britain’s interest in deepening contact and dialogue and reiterated China’s commitment to maintaining exchanges at all levels to jointly advance global peace and development.
