PowerChina, and Frontier Works Organisation, the contractors of Diamer Basha Development Company (Private) Limited (DBDC), mobilized their ambulances and medical teams that participated in the rescue operation during Upper Kohistan’s traffic accident on Karakorum Highway (KKH) on late Tuesday night.
A passenger bus collided with a car and both fell into a gorge near Shitial area of Upper Kohistan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) leaving 25 dead and 15 others injured. As per the instruction of Chairman WAPDA and CEO of DBDC, Power China and FWO (FPJV) mobilized their ambulances/medical teams and reached the accident site for rescue operations, according to an official statement.
The rescue teams of DBDC along with Rescue 1122 Gilgit Baltistan, KP, and local administration officials shifted the injured and dead bodies to local hospitals in Shitial and Chilas Regional Headquarters Hospital (RHQ). The social responsibility act of FPJV has been widely appreciated by local people on social media platforms.
FPJV Power is constructing the MW-1 Dam part of DBDP. The Project will have a gross water storage capacity of 8.1 MAF to irrigate 1.23 million acres of additional land. With an installed power generation capacity of 4,500 MW, the project will provide more than 18 billion units per annum to the National Grid.
