PM Shehbaz arrives in Baku for a two day official visit to enhance bilateral relations and engage in high-level meetings.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Baku on Sunday for a two-day official visit aimed at bolstering Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations as per the Prime Minister Office (PMO). Upon arrival at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, he was welcomed by senior Azerbaijani officials.
During the visit, Shehbaz is set to hold meetings with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and other top officials to enhance bilateral trade, investment, energy collaboration, defence ties, and cultural exchanges. The leaders will also discuss joint initiatives to combat climate change. The PMO stated that discussions will focus on strengthening relations in multiple sectors, including economic cooperation and environmental challenges.
Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the trip. Azerbaijan remains one of Pakistan’s key economic and strategic partners, with strong collaboration across multiple sectors.
As part of his engagements, Shehbaz will participate in the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum on Monday alongside Azerbaijani officials. The event will bring together business leaders from both nations to explore trade opportunities, business partnerships, and potential joint ventures.
Furthermore, a high-level ministerial delegation is accompanying the prime minister, which includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Investment and Privatisation Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Overseas Pakistanis Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the PM Syed Tariq Fatemi.
