PM holds phone conversation with Azerbaijan’s President for supporting Pakistan during the recent conflict with India.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif voiced deep concern over the recent provocative remarks from Indian leadership, asserting that Pakistan will firmly safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any future acts of aggression.

He conveyed these sentiments during a phone call with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Thursday.

The prime minister highlighted that Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire understanding with India for the sake of regional peace and remains committed to maintaining it.

In their warm and friendly conversation, Shehbaz Sharif expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Aliyev for his unwavering support for Pakistan during the recent South Asian crisis.

He described President Aliyev’s stance as a powerful reflection of his sincere affection for the Pakistani people.

Shehbaz Sharif also thanked the Azerbaijani people for their overwhelming solidarity with Pakistan during challenging times.

He noted that this support once again demonstrated the enduring bond and brotherhood between the two nations, which have always stood by one another.

The prime minister underscored that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is the primary source of instability in South Asia and must be resolved in line with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

He extended his appreciation to President Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s consistent and principled stance on supporting the Kashmir cause.

Speaking about bilateral ties, Shehbaz Sharif praised the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, noting that Pakistan is determined to transform this bond into a robust economic partnership.

He shared satisfaction with the progress being made on proposed Azerbaijani investments totaling two billion dollars across various sectors in Pakistan.

The prime minister also reiterated his invitation to President Aliyev for an official visit to Pakistan, which President Aliyev accepted graciously.

During the call, President Aliyev congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Pakistan’s recent achievements and welcomed the ceasefire initiative, applauding Pakistan’s commitment to peace.

He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s dedication to strengthening its fraternal relations with Pakistan in all domains.
