PLA Navy unveils warships nationwide for upcoming 76th Anniversary to enhance public engagement and showcase advancements.
Chinese warships, including the Type 075 amphibious assault vessel, began arriving at various coastal cities on Monday as part of preparations for open-house activities marking the founding anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy.
The Hainan, which is the PLA Navy’s first commissioned Type 075 amphibious assault ship since 2021, docked in Hainan Province—its namesake—on Monday. Recognized as a vital element of the PLA Navy’s amphibious operations, the vessel will be accessible to the public through online reservations from Thursday to Saturday.
This will be the first time the Hainan is open to visitors on the Chinese mainland, following a similar public event in Hong Kong last year.
Meanwhile, the Type 052D guided missile destroyer Nanjing and the Type 056A guided missile corvette Lu’an docked at Taizhou in Jiangsu Province for their scheduled public display from Tuesday to Wednesday. The media highlighted that this marks the first return of operational PLA Navy warships to Taizhou—the birthplace of the PLA Navy.
Additionally, five vessels from the PLA Northern Theater Command—such as the Type 052D destroyer Chengdu and the Type 054A frigate Linyi—arrived in Qingdao, Shandong Province. These warships will be open for public viewing from Wednesday to Sunday.
The 76th anniversary of the PLA Navy falls on April 23. Over 30 active-duty naval vessels will be showcased to the public in more than 10 coastal cities during this period.
This year’s open-house initiative will feature the largest and most diverse fleet to date, including key platforms such as the Type 075 amphibious assault ship, Type 071 transport dock, Type 052C/D destroyers, Type 054A frigates, Type 056A corvettes, Type 903 supply ships, and Type 22 missile boats.
