PCJCCI joins hands with BIPP for a better Pakistan

“Against the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic, the previous development model is facing new challenges every day. PCJCCI is willing to join hands with BIPP to cope with the changing situation and strive for the better development of Pakistan.”

Mr. Wang Zihai, President, Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) highlighted in his welcome address at the Launching Ceremony of BIPP’s 14th Annual Report 2021 with the theme of “the State of the Economy: Changing WorldPakistan Reset” on Wednesday.

The Shahid Javed Burki Institute of Public Policy at NetSol (BIPP) was established in March 2015 as an independent non-profit entity to carry out research.

Each year, BIPP produces an annual report on the state of economy with focus on significant issues of the country. And these reports have been received positively by the successive governments, academia, the research fraternity, and Pakistan’s development partners. The 2021 report provides an objective overview of the economic situation of Pakistan and the pathway ahead pursuant to the consecutive waves of the Covid-19 pandemic. It attempts to present an analysis of the current issues of vital significance for Pakistan with a need for a “Reset” to respond to the emerging global political and economic order.

On the occasion, Mr. Wang pointed out that the evolving situation in Afghanistan and its possible repercussion for Pakistan, significance of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) required a deep study and analysis by think tanks and it is necessary to provide a report to government and society to respond to the emerging global political and economic order. Wang stated that, “we believe as previous success story, this year’s report will provide much needed impetus and inspiration to the research and evidence-based policy and decision making in the country.”

Since its inception, PCJCCI has been strengthening bilateral businesses, investments and cultural ties between the two brother nations. Mr. Wang underlined that PCJCCI is playing an important role mainly in the accomplishment of CPEC, which is a landmark project of the “Belt and Road” Initiative coupled with facilitating joint ventures in private sector, arranging delegations to and from China, conducting of exhibitions both physically and digitally.

“Despite limited resources, PCJCCI is providing one stop solution to aspiring investors starting from visa letters, company registration, B2B, B2G, market intelligence, pre-feasibility reports, land acquisitions, legal counseling, interpretations of government policy prescriptions etc.” Wang added that, “the Chamber will, as always, support efforts to contribute to the friendship between China and Pakistan.”
