Pakistan’s SUPARCO, in partnership with China, has completed the secondary selection of two astronaut candidates for the country’s 2026 human spaceflight mission. The candidates underwent extensive medical, psychological, and aptitude evaluations at China’s Astronaut Centre.
The selection follows the 2025 Pakistan-China Astronaut Cooperation Agreement, under which Pakistan became the first foreign partner in China’s astronaut program. This partnership strengthens scientific and technological cooperation between the two nations.
Officials confirmed that one of the selected astronauts will travel to the China Space Station in late 2026. The program also supports Pakistan’s broader space ambitions, including planned lunar exploration missions with China’s support.
