ISLAMABAD, Sep 9 – Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moinul Haque, stated on Friday afternoon that Pakistan’s commitment to its ‘Digital Pakistan’ vision, harnessing its youthful and entrepreneurial population, is evident through the establishment of the Special Technology Zone Authority (STZA).

He maintained that this initiative aims to entice technology companies to establish research and development centers and manufacturing facilities within Pakistan.

Ambassador Haque shared these insights during an international conference titled ‘China-Pakistan Science, Technology, and Innovation Cooperation – Shared Journey to a Digital Era,’ according to details released by the Pakistani embassy in China.

Under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Pakistan has initiated the China-Pakistan Digital, Green, and Health Corridors. These corridors are designed to leverage the strengths of both nations in their respective fields.

This conference took place alongside the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) at the China National Convention Center in Beijing.

Ambassador Haque emphasized the establishment of connections between academic institutions, research bodies, and Information Technology (IT) companies to realize their vision and embark on a collaborative journey into the digital era. He underlined that by harnessing the potential of science, technology, and innovation, not only can current challenges be addressed, but also a brighter and more prosperous future can be charted for both nations and the global community.

Zhang Xiaodong, Director General of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, noted that this international conference aimed to boost scientific and technological exchanges between China and Pakistan. The conference also sought to facilitate knowledge transfer and technology sharing, enabling the development of Special Technology Zones across Pakistan.

Xiaodong stressed the importance of joint research projects, technological exchanges, innovation, and entrepreneurship cooperation. Such collaborations could foster an environment where innovators, scientists, and entrepreneurs from both countries could collaborate and maximize their collective benefits.

The event was organized through a partnership between the Embassy, Zhongguancun, the Belt and Road Industrial Promotion Association (ZBRA), and China-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperation Center (CPSTC). It saw the participation of Major General Farrukh Shahzad Rao, Director General of the National Logistic Corporation (NLC), senior officials from the Embassy, ZBRA, CPSTC, and representatives from Chinese companies and media.
