Pakistani people on Wednesday afternoon gathered here to demand a service road to link several villages to the main road of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
People from scores of villagers in Jand gathered at the under-construction CPEC road and urged the National Highway Authority (NHA) and other authorities to construct a service road to their areas.
The villagers belonging to villages of union council Trapp, including Barwala, Hadwali, Dhoke Habib, Dhoke Nikka, Ratti Dandi and Dhoke Sarfaraz, highlighted their demand near Barwala.
The claimed link roads were constructed along Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) and Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2) in several areas to facilitate the local residents and their areas should also be granted the facility.
They contended that their villages and people should also get CPEC rewards like others. They maintained there was a need for the construction of a service route from Dhoke Sarfaraz to the Tarrap Interchange.
“We are cut off through land networks due to construction of the Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan CPEC road,” said Kareem Nawaz, one of the villagers.
The villagers went back to their areas after officials from a construction company assured them that their demands would be submitted to higher authorities concerned in Islamabad.
