Pakistani Pine Nut exports to China cross $18m in 2024 as per official data revealed.
Official data from the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) reveals that Pakistani pine nut exports to China exceeded $18.78 million in 2024.
Between January and December 2024, China imported 981.64 tons of pine nuts from Pakistan, amounting to $18.78 million, a significant rise from $8.22 million in 2023. This growth positions China as one of the key markets for Pakistani pine nuts, contributing to 35% of China’s total pine nut imports, which stood at $53.71 million for the year.
Yar Muhammad Niaz, the Chief Executive of a food company based in Hangzhou, informed China Economic Net that the superior taste and quality of Pakistani pine nuts have contributed to their soaring demand in China. He further attributed this success to extensive promotion on leading e-commerce platforms in 2023. Renowned for their rich flavor and smooth texture, Pakistani pine nuts have become a favored snack among Chinese consumers. Their increasing availability during traditional celebrations, including the Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival, highlights their cultural significance as a symbol of health, prosperity, and longevity.
He also pointed out that the creamy, buttery taste of these pine nuts makes them a perfect addition to festive sweets and snacks, while their high-end packaging enhances their appeal as a luxury gift. The growing demand for Pakistani pine nuts reflects the strengthening trade and cultural ties between Pakistan and China, particularly during major festive occasions.
