Pakistani, Egyptian FMs discuss Gaza crisis over phone, as Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held a phone conversation with Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, on Sunday to discuss the situation in Gaza, particularly the dire humanitarian crisis affecting millions of Palestinians.
During the call, Senator Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and expressed solidarity with Egypt. He also backed the idea of convening an Extraordinary Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting at the Foreign Ministers’ level to address the crisis. Both ministers agreed to stay in close contact regarding developments.
This discussion followed Pakistan’s strong condemnation on Saturday of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks, in which he suggested that Palestinians should establish a state in Saudi Arabia.
In a press statement, Senator Dar criticized Netanyahu’s remarks as “irresponsible, provocative, and thoughtless,” stating that they disregard the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to self-determination and an independent state on their own historical land.
He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, commending its steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. He condemned any attempts to misrepresent Saudi Arabia’s stance or undermine its commitment to Palestine.
Senator Dar emphasized Pakistan’s firm belief that Palestinians have the inalienable right to establish an independent and sovereign state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital. He firmly rejected any proposal that seeks to displace or relocate Palestinians, calling it a clear violation of international law, UN resolutions, and fundamental principles of justice.
He reiterated that Pakistan remains steadfast in its support for the Palestinian cause and will continue working alongside Saudi Arabia and the international community to secure a just, comprehensive, and lasting resolution to the issue. Pakistan has also called on the global community to condemn Netanyahu’s remarks and hold Israel accountable for actions that undermine the peace process.
