Pakistani agricultural products shine at China Trade Fair as the event presented the best of products in front of the world.
At the 21st China International Agricultural Trade Fair (CATF), Pakistani agricultural by-products garnered significant attention. Held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex (Canton Fair Complex), the fair highlighted products such as biscuits, pastries, Himalayan pink salt, dried mangoes, and almond oil, which impressed both visitors and buyers.
Cindy Chen, Director of the “Zhitong Batie” service platform for the Pakistani market in China, expressed excitement over the positive reception of Pakistani agricultural by-products. She emphasized that the platform is dedicated to showcasing the best of Pakistani products to a global audience. Chen also pointed out the unique qualities of these products, including their authenticity, freshness, and Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to enhance its agricultural sector.
Pakistan’s merchandise exports for the fiscal year 2023-2024 reached $3.064 billion, marking a 10.54% increase from the previous year, with agricultural exports rising to a record high of $8 billion, up 37% from the previous year. Pakistan aims to reach a target of $10 billion in agricultural exports this fiscal year. Pakistani agricultural exporters have actively participated in Chinese exhibitions such as the China International Import Expo, the China-South Asia Expo, and the China-ASEAN Expo.
Chen also mentioned promoting the upcoming FoodAg Manufacturing Expo, which will be held in Lahore in 2025, focusing on food ingredients, processing, packaging, and innovations. The 21st CATF, with the theme “Accelerating the Development of Modern Agriculture and Advancing Comprehensive Rural Revitalization,” covered over 100,000 square meters, showcasing more than 20,000 products from nearly 3,000 enterprises, attracting over 50,000 buyers and industry experts. This event provided a great opportunity for Pakistani agricultural products to gain regional exposure.
Looking ahead, Chen highlighted the promising future of bilateral agricultural trade between China and Pakistan. With China’s growing demand for high-quality agricultural products and Pakistan’s abundant resources and production capabilities, the potential for increased trade is strong.
