Pakistan, Uzbekistan pledge greater defense cooperation as Uzbek Deputy Defence Minister meets Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff.
On February 27, 2025, Major General Burkhanov Akhmad Jamalovich, Deputy Minister of Defence and Commander of the Air Defence Forces and Air Force of Uzbekistan, met with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, at the Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, both officials deliberated on bilateral strategic interests, particularly focusing on the regional security landscape. They also expressed a strong commitment to enhancing military-to-military cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
Major General Burkhanov praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, highlighting their role in ensuring regional stability.
Upon his arrival at the Joint Staff Headquarters, the Uzbek military leader was accorded a Guard of Honour by a tri-services contingent, showcasing the warm diplomatic and military ties between the two nations.
