Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged citizens, youth, social and religious leaders to unite against violence targeting women, highlighting the importance of collective action. This year’s theme “Unite to End Digital Violence against Women” draws attention to modern challenges faced by women on multiple platforms.
He stressed that violence against women not only violates basic human rights but also affects societal peace and development. While Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees equality and dignity, women still face discrimination in many areas, necessitating stronger protection mechanisms.
The government is implementing measures including women’s protection centers, specialized police units, helplines, financial and legal assistance, and independent commissions to safeguard women. PM Shehbaz emphasized that social awareness and cooperation from all sectors are essential to create a safe and just environment for women.
