Pakistan seeks China’s help to become regional manufacturing hub: Ghulam Qadir

Trade and industrial cooperation between China and Pakistan under the umbrella of CPEC is intended to make Pakistan a manufacturing and economic hub for the entire region, said Ghulam Qadir, Commercial Counselor of the Pakistan Embassy in China.

Talking at a seminar titled “China-Pakistan Trade & Industrial Cooperation Forum”, Ghulam Qadir said that Pakistan is ready to become a food basket for China, while Pakistan’s agricultural products to China are gaining popularity, and he further commented that “such kinds of events will help our enterprises interact with Chinese companies.

Pakistan has all the ingredients needed to become a regional hub”, he stated. He further said that Pakistan hopes to improve its investment and increase its trade and economic ties, by making ‘made-in-Pakistan’ products. “We are also working on different e-commerce platforms and we are bringing our enterprises to connect with Chinese e-commerce platforms.

Meanwhile, we can improve our yields by using Chinese technologies and methods. We can also export the finalized products to China and the world”, he mentioned. Ghulam Qadir told CEN that he has a strong conviction that Pakistan has the ability to become a food basket for China, because Pakistan has fertile lands, a young population, and a large amount of resources available which is needed to boost its agriculture.

He further said that Special Economic Zones in Pakistan are offering special incentives to Chinese and international enterprises, where they can get a business-friendly environment with large inducements.
