Pakistan reaffirms commitment to combat cancer and invest in medical research and healthcare infrastructure.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the nation’s commitment to global initiatives aimed at combating cancer as Pakistan observed World Cancer Day on Tuesday.
According to a statement from the President’s Office, Zardari emphasized that the day serves as a reminder of the significant challenges posed by cancer and an opportunity to inspire hope through collective action, innovation, and resilience.
“Through awareness campaigns and a strengthened healthcare response, we can work together to fight cancer and lessen its impact on our society,” the president stated.
In a separate statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif underscored the government’s efforts to improve cancer care infrastructure, invest in medical research, and ensure that all citizens have access to affordable and high-quality treatment.
As Pakistan reaffirms commitment to combat cancer, he further noted that Pakistan remains committed to collaborating with healthcare professionals, researchers, and international organizations to enhance its capabilities in cancer prevention and treatment.
World Cancer Day is observed annually to promote awareness and encourage collective action in the global fight against cancer.
