Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in rice exports, Halal certification, and food security.
The understanding came during high-level meetings in Kuala Lumpur. A Pakistani delegation led by Secretary for National Food Security and Research Amer Ali Ahmed held discussions with Malaysian authorities.
Focus on Pakistani Rice Exports
The talks focused on expanding Pakistani rice exports to Malaysia. Both sides discussed ways to improve market access and strengthen trade links.
Moreover, the engagement highlighted Pakistan’s participation in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase. The two countries also explored opportunities to expand bilateral agricultural trade.
Cooperation on Halal Standards
Pakistan and Malaysia also discussed stronger cooperation on Halal certification standards and supply chains.
The talks covered market access for Halal-certified agricultural and food products. In addition, both sides discussed measures to improve certification processes and trade links.
Expanding the Halal Agri-Food Sector
The discussions covered several areas of the Halal agri-food industry. These included:
- Rice and meat
- Poultry and fisheries
- Aquaculture technologies
- Animal vaccines
- Biosecurity controls
- Halal gelatin supply
