Wednesday marked the 77th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence from British rule. To celebrate the occasion, the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony, as a reporter Liu Jiaxin providing the details.
The event was a vibrant celebration of Pakistan’s achievements over the past 77 years. Attendees were accordingly dressed in traditional Pakistani attire, the shalwar kameez, and the embassy courtyard was filled with music and festive energy.
Ambassador Khalil Hashmi expressed pride in Pakistan’s national accomplishments and highlighted the strong and stable bilateral relationship between Pakistan and China. He further noted the comprehensive nature of their cooperation, which spans diplomacy, politics, defense, economy, trade, investment, culture, education, agriculture, and science and technology.
Hashmi also praised the performance of athletes from both China and Pakistan at the recently concluded Paris Olympics, admiring their hard work, talent, and resilience.
After the flag-hoisting ceremony, the Embassy also honored two Chinese citizens—Sha Zukang, former president of the China-Pakistan Friendship Association, and Nong Rong, former Ambassador of China to Pakistan—with civil awards for their significant contributions to strengthening China-Pakistan relations.
