Pakistan Embassy conducts TVET Forum in Beijing in an inaugural ceremony marking a major step towards promote bilateral cooperation in education and human resource development.
Multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed to enhance China-Pakistan collaboration in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), aiming to boost employability, foster innovation, and strengthen bilateral relations.
These agreements were signed by TVET enterprises, service providers, and Pakistan’s provincial Technical Education and Vocational Training Authorities (TEVTAs) during the launch of the TVET forum titled “Fostering a Skilled Workforce: Forging a Brighter Future.”
The forum gathered policymakers, senior government officials, prominent TVET service providers, enterprise representatives, and leaders from technical and vocational institutes in China, according to the press release issued yesterday.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, expressed hope that the forum would help build a skilled workforce capable of advancing CPEC projects in its next phase. He emphasized the forum’s significance as a milestone in promoting industrialization in Pakistan.
Ambassador Hashmi commended the exceptional support of ITMC, China, for introducing high-quality TVET programs in Pakistan.
In a pre-recorded message, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan’s Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, highlighted the importance of TVET in driving sustainable economic growth. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working with China to expand TVET initiatives under the Five E’s development framework.
The forum included a video presentation on Pakistan’s TVET landscape, showcasing emerging trends and recommendations for future partnerships.
Three panel discussions were organized to provide insights into various aspects of TVET collaboration between the two countries.
A key moment of the event was the unveiling of the plaque for the ‘Kaiwu Workshop’ at the National University of Technology (NUTECH) in Islamabad.
In his closing remarks, Ambassador Hashmi congratulated the Embassy team for the forum’s success and stressed the importance of implementing the signed MoUs effectively. He also expressed the intent to make the forum a recurring annual event organized by the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing.
