Beijing (28 July) – One day conference on “Building a viable drone industry in Pakistan” was hosted by Pakistan Embassy, Beijing in collaboration with World UAV Federation on 27 July 2023. A number of leading UAV/drone companies participated in the conference. The event also saw representation from scholars, international community and media.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Moin ul Haque fondly recalled his own visit to the headquarters of World UAV Foundation in Shenzhen earlier this year, when collaboration with Pakistan was discussed with the Chairman of the Federation. He briefed the participants about the growing use of drones in Pakistan and the government was enacting new policies to regulate the sector. Praising the strength and technological advancement of China’s drone industry, he invited Chinese companies to invest in Pakistan for producing drones for use in fields such as agriculture, disaster management, logistics, mapping, etc.
Prof. Dr. Yang Jincai, Chairman of World UAV Federation, and founding president of Shenzhen UAV Industry Association briefed the audience on the significance of multi- billion global drone market, and the wide share of Chinese civil drone market that had reached $21 billion. He also reiterated, on behalf of World UAV Foundation, his firm support to build a viable drone industry in Pakistan for use in diverse civilian fields.
Commercial Counsellor and Science Counsellor of the Embassy also briefed the audience about Pakistan’s economic and technological landscape and invited the drone companies to invest in Pakistan
