Pakistan, China to uphold regional peace and security as a telephonic conversation was held between the foreign ministers of the two countries. Pakistan has been actively engaging with regional actors in wake of the recent tensions.
Pakistan and China have once again reaffirmed their strong commitment to safeguarding regional peace and stability, encouraging mutual respect and understanding, and jointly opposing unilateralism and hegemonic practices, according to a report.
This mutual understanding emerged during a phone conversation on Sunday between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
During the discussion, Dar updated Wang on the prevailing regional dynamics, firmly rejecting India’s unilateral and illegal moves as well as its unfounded allegations against Pakistan.
The Pakistani foreign minister expressed sincere gratitude for China’s steadfast support and reiterated Pakistan’s deep commitment to the “iron-clad” Pakistan-China friendship and the broader vision of an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
Dar also emphasized Pakistan’s resolve to further enhance bilateral cooperation across all sectors.
Both leaders agreed to maintain continuous communication and coordination at all levels to pursue their shared goals of peace, security, and sustainable development both regionally and globally.
Amid escalating tensions with India, especially following India’s unilateral suspension of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), the Pakistani foreign minister has been proactively engaging with regional partners.
In the past two days, Foreign Minister Dar has conducted phone discussions with his counterparts from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
