The Punjab Assembly’s Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) celebrated 75 years of Pakistan-China ties on Wednesday afternoon. The ceremony reflected growing momentum in Pakistan-China parliamentary diplomacy. Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan presided over the event. Chinese Consul General in Lahore, Sun Yan, attended as chief guest. Additionally, senior Chinese Consulate officials joined the gathering alongside Punjab Assembly Secretary General Chaudhry Amer Habib, Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt, and Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Chairperson Sarah Ahmed.
A Partnership Built on Trust
Speaker Khan called Pakistan-China relations one of the world’s strongest bilateral partnerships. He credited mutual trust, respect, and shared goals for peace and prosperity as its foundation. The relationship, he noted, now extends well beyond traditional diplomacy. Strong people-to-people ties and consistent political alignment anchor the partnership today. Khan also praised China’s steady support during Pakistan’s difficult moments, highlighting Beijing’s contributions to infrastructure, technology, and institutional growth.

CPEC Enters a High-Quality Phase
Meanwhile, Consul General Sun Yan described the anniversary as proof of an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. He called CPEC the flagship of bilateral cooperation. According to Sun, the corridor has entered a high-quality development stage. This phase, he added, opens fresh opportunities in agriculture, industrialization, mining, and innovation.
Youth and Legislators Take Centre Stage
The event spotlighted growing focus on youth engagement and parliamentary diplomacy. Participants agreed that stronger ties between legislators and young leaders would complement CPEC’s economic momentum. They closed the ceremony by reaffirming their commitment to broader cooperation. This includes political, economic, cultural, and legislative fields. Both nations enter this new era of collaboration together, reflecting decades of trust built between Islamabad and Beijing.
