Pakistan, China expand vocational training partnership as the “Pakistani Bailie Workshop” was recently recognized for its role in offering technical training.

The Gansu Provincial Department of Education recently announced the first batch of recognized “Bailie Workshop” construction projects, selecting five vocational colleges from the province. Among them, the “Pakistani Bailie Workshop” project, initiated by Gansu Vocational College of Communications, was successfully chosen.

In October 2023, the college signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gwadar Technical Institute (GTI) in Pakistan. By June 2024, the two institutions inaugurated the Bailie Workshop Li Chun International Education and Training Base, officially marking the start of their collaboration. This initiative is designed to promote the exchange of advanced technical knowledge, aligning with the growing global need for skilled professionals and creating international career opportunities for young people in both countries.

As part of this collaboration, two courses: Bridge Testing and Inspection Technology and New Energy Vehicle Structure, were accredited by Sindh province’s vocational education authorities last year. Additionally, Gansu Vocational College of Communications conducted an online training session on Bridge Testing and Inspection Technology for six faculty members and 17 students from GTI’s Civil Engineering Department.

The Bailie Workshop initiative is committed to fostering China-Pakistan cooperation in both industry and education. Through exchange programs, specialized training, and joint projects, the initiative aims to develop a highly skilled workforce in Pakistan, proficient in Chinese language, culture, and technical expertise. This effort supports Chinese enterprises abroad while also boosting Pakistan’s economic and social growth.

According to the Bailie Workshop Construction Alliance, a vocational education consortium in Gansu, Chinese vocational education standards have been successfully implemented in 23 countries, benefiting over 10,000 employees working for Chinese enterprises abroad. This initiative highlights the impact of China’s vocational education and offers a sustainable model for international industrial cooperation.
