As CPEC enters its second phase, Pakistan and China are deepening their cooperation in various sectors, especially agriculture. Under this, for the first time Pakistani mangoes and cherries are making their way into Chinese markets. In addition to this, a joint chili farming pilot project near Lahore, based on 100 acres has recently been completed, successfully. Chinese use a variety of chilies in their cuisines, and as Pakistan’s fertile soil supports chili cultivation, it is being used to develop chili farm. During the next phase, chili farming on 500 acres will be commenced. Apart from this, Chinese have expressed their plans to invest in modern machinery and seed varieties to boost agricultural production.
