This decision follows high-level talks in Baku, where Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, Privatization, and Board of Investment, Abdul Aleem Khan, met with Azerbaijan’s Minister for Digital Development & Transport, Rashad Nabiyev. The discussions centered on potential cooperation in infrastructure projects, particularly in the motorway sector.
The upcoming visit will focus on assessing feasibility and investment prospects, particularly for the M-6 and M-9 motorway projects, which link Sukkur, Hyderabad, and Karachi.
During his meeting with Minister Rashad Nabiyev, Abdul Aleem Khan stressed the significance of enhancing transport connectivity between Pakistan and Central Asian states, emphasizing the potential for significant progress in this domain.
The Pakistani minister highlighted the scope for bilateral cooperation in the communications sector to enhance logistics, underscoring the historical, religious, and strong friendly ties between the two nations that should be further strengthened.
Azerbaijani Minister Rashad Nabiyev expressed his country’s keen interest in expanding bilateral cooperation and investment with Pakistan, stating that the upcoming delegation visit, led by Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, would pave the way for substantial progress.
The meeting also addressed investment opportunities under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreements between the two countries, according to an official press release.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the National Highway Authority provided a briefing on the M-6 and M-9 motorway projects. Azerbaijani officials also engaged in discussions on potential collaboration with Pakistan in rail, road, and other communication infrastructure sectors.
Attendees included Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) Coordinator, Lt. Gen. Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Federal Secretary of Petroleum, Momin Ali Agha, alongside a high-level delegation.
Notably, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan arrived in Baku today, where he is scheduled to meet additional ministers and key government officials to further bilateral cooperation efforts.
