Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China Relations Strengthened: Mao Ning Highlights Wang Yi’s Kabul Visit
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Afghanistan on Wednesday, where he met Afghan Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, and Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. He also attended the sixth China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Thursday that Wang Yi emphasised equality among nations, regardless of size, and called for win-win cooperation. She stressed that the world should not allow the rich to grow richer and the poor poorer, adding that Afghanistan also has the right to development and revitalisation.
Mao Ning further stated that China has always pursued a friendly policy toward all Afghan people, respecting their choices and supporting the government’s efforts for good governance and stability. She highlighted China’s readiness to deepen good-neighbourly trust with Afghanistan and Pakistan, enhance exchanges at all levels, and strengthen strategic mutual trust.
When asked if China recognises the Taliban’s interim government following Russia’s recognition last month, Mao responded that China pursues friendly relations with all Afghan people and is willing to work with Afghanistan to advance bilateral ties.
