The management of New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) has awarded a contract to Qavi Engineers Ltd for the construction of state-of-the-art residential facilities for the Airport Security Force (ASF) at a cost of Rs. 3.2 billion on March 10.
ASF, a federal department under the Aviation Division, is responsible for the security of Pakistan’s aviation industry under the ASF Act of 1975. The planned accommodations will include five residential buildings, family apartments, hostels, a library, a mess, a hospital, a mosque, and a sports complex.
A Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) official stated that, as per the signed agreement, the entire construction project is expected to be completed within two years. Meanwhile, NGIA has already built a modern residential complex for designated CAA officers, featuring a centrally air-conditioned system, uninterrupted power supply, Wi-Fi connectivity, a sewerage system, and potable water pipelines.
Additionally, efforts are underway to develop green spaces around the residential complex to promote a sustainable and eco-friendly living environment. In the initial phase, trees have been planted both inside and outside the complex, with designated areas allocated for further afforestation to strengthen the green ecosystem.
According to a CAA official, most of the plants have been sourced from the Plant Tissue Culture Lab and Green House, which are integral to the Belt and Road Engineering Research Center for Tropical Arid Non-Wood Forest. This center, developed in collaboration with Central South University of Forestry and Technology and China Overseas Port Holding, operates within the Gwadar Port premises.
