Ne Zha 2 becomes fifth highest grossing film of all time globally attracting audiences particularly in international markets.
The Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2 has achieved a global box office revenue of over 15.02 billion yuan (approximately $2.07 billion), surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the fifth highest-grossing film of all time.
Just 46 days after its release in China, Ne Zha 2 continues to break records. It has become China’s highest-grossing film, overtaking Wolf Warrior 2 and The Battle at Lake Changjin, while also claiming the title of the world’s highest-grossing animated film, surpassing Inside Out 2’s $1.7 billion earnings.
The film has expanded to international markets, including Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan, with screenings available in English and local languages. Malaysian audiences have responded positively. On March 14, 2025, Ne Zha 2 premiered in London, marking the start of its European release, with upcoming debuts in France and Germany later in March, further boosting its box office potential.
With only Titanic, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, and Avatar ranking higher, it remains uncertain how far Ne Zha 2 will climb in the global all-time box office rankings.
