The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Rescue 1122 have stepped up flood relief operations across Punjab, delivering essential supplies and evacuating thousands from high-risk areas.
On Saturday, NDMA dispatched eight trucks carrying 500 ration bags each to flood-hit Sialkot and Narowal. Each 46-kg pack contains 22 essential food and household items, distributed through district administrations. The authority has planned 4,200 relief packages in total, with upcoming deliveries to Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Jhang, and Chiniot.
Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 scaled up its emergency response, deploying 779 boats and evacuating 72,812 people from inundated regions around the Indus, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej, and Jhelum rivers. Over 922 individuals were rescued in the last 24 hours alone.
District-wise, Bahawalpur reported the highest rescues (10,319), followed by Kasur (8,672), Pakpattan (6,157), Okara (6,072), and Gujranwala (4,882). Additional operations were carried out in Narowal, Nankana Sahib, Hafizabad, Bahawalnagar, and others. Boats and teams remain on standby across multiple districts for swift deployment.
Authorities urged citizens to stay vigilant, call helpline 1122 during emergencies, and cooperate with rescue teams to ensure timely assistance.
