Karot Power Company Limited and Mirpur University of Science and Technology have entered a new partnership to support underprivileged students through annual scholarships. The agreement was signed in Islamabad and focuses on helping undergraduate and postgraduate students who face financial barriers, especially those living around the Karot Hydropower Project region.
Under this collaboration, up to ten students will receive financial coverage for tuition and essential academic expenses each year. University officials stated that the program aims to ease the burden on families while encouraging talented youth to pursue higher education without interruption.
The scholarship plan adds to the Karot project’s broader community initiatives, which previously included health services, vocational training, safe drinking water systems, and improvements in local infrastructure. The project remains a key clean-energy contributor under CPEC, while MUST continues to serve as a major science and technology institution in AJK.
